Understanding, Support,
Repair and Recovery

At Moral Injury Australia, we exist to deepen understanding, reduce the risk of moral injury, and build capability across communities and sectors. We help individuals and organisations recover from the emotional and moral wounds that come from witnessing or participating in events that conflict with their values.

OUR STORY

A Lived Experience and Evidence-Led Approach to Moral Injury

Moral Injury Australia was founded from lived experience to support individuals carrying invisible wounds — guilt, shame, and betrayal arising from events that conflict with deeply held moral values —and to help organisations reduce the risk of moral injury.
We recognise that moral injury cannot simply be “talked away.” Recovery requires empathy, understanding, and structured support to restore integrity, rebuild trust, and reconnect with meaning and relationships.

Our approach integrates lived experience with evidence-based research, practical resources, and therapeutic support. Through compassionate and informed responses, we help individuals and organisations mitigate risk, rebuild trust, and strengthen self-identity. Whether you are a first responder, veteran, healthcare professional, leader, or someone seeking to better understand and prevent moral injury, we are here to support you.

OUR APPROACH

Helping you Manage, Mitigate or Respond to Moral Injury

Every experience of moral injury is unique. Our approach blends compassion with evidence-based techniques to help you understand moral injury professionally, organisationally or personally, providing a safe, supportive space for meaningful education and support.

Understanding Your Story

Before our work begins, we take time to listen. Each consultation starts with understanding your needs, these may include values, experiences, and impact so we can guide you with understanding and respect.

Evidence-Informed Therapeutic Support

Our offerings draw from psychology, trauma therapy, and spiritual resilience practices to help you work safely through feelings of guilt, betrayal, and shame while building emotional strength. We can help you professionally or personally in building your skills to identify and respond to moral injury.

Repair, Recovery and Meaning-Making

Repairing from a moral injury means reconnecting with your values and sense of integrity. We help you rebuild confidence, purpose, and trust — in yourself and in others or your organisation.

OUR WORK IN ACTION

Real Conversations, Compassionate Guidance, Lasting Change

Every session at Moral Injury Australia is grounded in understanding and trust. Whether online or in person, our counselling provides a safe space to process guilt, betrayal, and moral distress — helping you find clarity, meaning, and peace in what once felt unbearable.

Therapeutic Support

Private, or group based, sessions are designed to help you explore your moral injury and make meaning towards repair
