About this course

Our suicide prevention, intervention, bereavement and postvention course is a powerful in depth examination of the complexity and facets of suicide.

Initially designed by Nikki Jamieson in 2018 to help enhance awareness and understanding of suicide and suicide prevention. It has evolved and emerged as an easy to understand tool in understanding suicide, its subsequent impacts and what we can do to help those who have experienced or continue to experience the impacts. This course also teaches about specific approaches and tools that can assist with day to day practice.

The course covers many aspects including:

suicide prevention, bereavement and postvention. Collaboration and future directions in identifying needs, preparing individuals for discussion with someone experiencing a suicidal crisis and supportive techniques and is particularly suited to those with some knowledge or interest in mental health, suicde prevention and wellbeing.

Doctor, suicidologist, author, social worker, and teacher – Dr Jamieson has been working in the field of suicide prevention for several years and has lived experience of suicide herself. Dr Jamieson is an Australian moral injury and suicide researcher, a Masters qualified Suicidologist and AASW registered Social Worker. Dr Jamieson has successfully supported and educated thousands on the subject as well as having her own lived experience. It is from these experiences that she has created this course to share her knowledge and expertise with you.

Who the course is for:

Participants may be qualified clinicians or currently learning or simply interested in suicide prevention, prevention, bereavement or postvention. Great news is there are no prerequisites for this course, just an internet connection, a note pad and pen and a willing and open mind!
